BILLS OF EXCHANGE ACT 1909 – SECT 35 – (1) Every party whose signature appears on a bill is prima facie deemed to have become a party thereto for value.
“Prima facie” is a Latin term that translates to “at first sight” or “on its face” in English. It is often used in legal contexts to describe evidence that, on its face or at first glance, is sufficient to establish a fact or prove a case. In other words, something that is prima facie true or evident doesn’t require further investigation or explanation at the initial stage.
