Glossary Term: "executor"

An executor is the person named in a will (or appointed by a court if no will exists) to administer the deceased person’s estate. Their responsibilities include:

    *   Identifying and gathering the deceased’s assets.

    *   Paying debts and taxes.

    *   Distributing the remaining assets to the beneficiaries as directed by the will.
